Memorial & Writing
Those early years I worked on this proposal didn’t seem to offer much
immediate incentive for Egypt (1980’s thru to 2000’s). However, there was a clear
moral demand as a political obligation. Israel handed over the entirety of the Sinai
Peninsula to Egypt in their commitment to peace for both Egypt and Palestinians.
The Sinai was lost by Egypt in their war – when they attacked Israel. Israeli
PM, Menachem Begin, just turned around and handed 100% of that back over to
Egypt for literally nothing but a handshake – and in the name of this peace.
Egypt now beholden to that handshake as guarantor of the Palestinian
Peace in exchange for this extraordinary generosity by Israel. That peace failed
and so now, it is time for Egypt to pay with land too. Israel surrendered 3 x times
the size of their entire nation in the cause of this peace - with their return of the
Sinai Peninsula to Egypt.
In other words, there’s giving 100% to a cause. Israel actually gave 300% -
literally. They never get credit for this. That changes here – starting today. And so,
it’s Egypt’s turn to make some gesture of land too – ‘Land for Peace’ as
Palestinians demand.
This only requires 10% of the Sinai’s nearly 24,00 square miles. That’s just
0.05% of Egypt’s total (400k sq ml). PIPI holds this Israel sacrifice to now press
Egypt to make but just 0.05% of their nation’s land equivalent for this Palestinian
cause.
Israel is always blamed for the open concentration camp conditions of the
Gaza Strip, but magically, Egypt sidestepped this same blame. Odd given they hold
34,000 square miles – specifically for this designated purpose. Who thought Egypt
so very PR savvy to world opinion. All the land, none of the blame. But today,
Egypt, you must pay – your share of land.
There should be some financial incentives to Egypt as well. Much of this
would be via court settlements to Palestinian victims of Israel aggression and in
demonstration of commitment from all Arab nations presently posturing in the
name of this cause. Much of this in direct vouchers to individual Palestinians for
homes, cars, education, and some cash, etc.
Basically, Egypt is once again getting a free a handout. First the land. Now
in the name of Palestinian development. They offer up 10% of their unused lands
for tens of billions of free investment for and by Palestinians. Great deal for Egypt.
